Licence
In force since 25 de agosto de 2026. THE MAGIC SpA, tax ID 78.052.234-8, Nueva Andrés Bello 1860, Independencia, Chile.
The short version: sell what you build with it, not the thing itself.
You may
- Build an unlimited number of end products, commercial or not.
- Modify the source however you like; what you build on top is yours.
- Deploy those products publicly and charge whatever you want.
- Keep using the version you bought, forever. Licences do not expire.
- Use it on client projects and hand the finished product over.
You may not
- Redistribute, resell, sublicense or publish the source, in whole or in substantial part, as a starter kit, template, boilerplate, course material or component library.
- Put it in a public repository, gist or file share.
- Use it to build a product that competes with The Magic as a starter kit.
Seats
Solo covers one named developer. Team covers up to five developers at one company. Every developer who works on the source needs a seat, contractors included while they are on the project. If your team outgrows the licence, buy the difference.
Client work
You may use your licence on client projects and deliver the resulting code base, provided the client receives it as a finished product rather than as a reusable starter kit. If the client wants to reuse it across their own projects, they need their own licence.
The grey areas, answered
- Can I open-source my product?
- Not if the repository contains a substantial part of The Magic as such. Open-source the parts you wrote.
- Can a contractor work on my code?
- Yes, while they are on your project, under your licence, if you have a seat for them.
- Can I build several products with one licence?
- Yes. Unlimited end products.
- Can my company buy one Solo licence for four developers?
- No. That is what Team is for.
